Jamaican Fried Dumpling Recipe

Fried dumpling is a piece of goodness that is enjoyed nice and hot. These little things are the ultimate comfort food. You can eat it by itself or enjoy it with almost anything. I got a few requests to share my recipe, so without further ado, here it is:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 ¼ cup water
  • 1 ½ tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup of oil

  1. In a bowl combine flour, baking powder, butter and salt
  2. Slowly add water and begin to knead dough
  3. Knead until well combined
  4. Heat pot to medium and add oil
  5. Begin forming dumplings and then carefully add them one at a time to the pot
  6. Fry them for ~2 ½ minutes per side until golden-brown (Timing varies from stove to stove so check periodically)
  7. Remove from heat and place on paper-towel lined plate to remove excess oil
  8. Enjoy immediately : )

Is this the same recipe you’d use to make dumplings in pumpkin soup?

No it’s not the same recipe. In soups you would add boiled dumplings. I will be sharing a video and recipe for boiled dumplings soon. Thanks for stopping by.
